Gifts are a wonderful way to express appreciation, but so is the work that goes on behind the scenes. From choosing the products—ideally, they best represent the personality and character of the person (or people)—to determining the best way to present those items—such as packaging—it's all one meticulous process bound by thoughtfulness and thoroughness.

One company that takes gifting to the next level is Australian-based brand Bindle. Founded by Catherine Blackford in 2012, Bindle started as a creative outlet, one that, a decade or so later, has turned into the go-to curated gift business that it is now among event organizers and corporations alike.

What makes Bindle special, among many, is their dedication to supporting local Australian artisans as a way to provide beautiful, well-made products and, at the same time, give various local businesses a stage to shine on. Another is Bindle’s commitment to sustainability, which they showcase through the use of their branded, compostable packaging staples.

Tell us a bit about your brand!
Bindle is a certified B Corporation specialising in thoughtful, design-led gifting that quietly reflects care, quality, and purpose. Every Bindle is curated using Australian-made products, handpicked for their integrity, provenance, and story, supporting local makers and leaving a lighter footprint.

We believe gifting is more than a transaction; it’s a meaningful gesture that honours relationships, reflects values, and communicates thoughtfulness without saying too much. Our clients come to us when they want gifts that feel genuine, beautifully considered, and aligned with how they do business.

Tell us about your packaging, how you’re using it, and the importance of it for your brand.
Packaging plays a vital role at Bindle, not just in protecting the gift, but in shaping the experience. It’s often the first moment of connection, so we treat it with the same level of care and intention as the contents inside.

We use minimal, plastic-free, and fully recyclable materials wherever possible, with a focus on reusability and low-impact design. Our signature packaging is designed to feel quietly premium and purposefully simple, a reflection of our values as a B Corp and our commitment to reducing unnecessary waste.

Importantly, we want the packaging to support the story we’re telling: that gifting can be both beautiful and considered.

Where are you finding inspiration for Bindle and in life at the moment?
At the moment, I’m finding inspiration in anything that balances beauty with responsibility, especially products and packaging that are kind to the earth without feeling overly worthy or stripped back. I’m drawn to materials that are considered, natural, and circular, things that tell a quiet story and tread lightly.
There’s a sense of calm in thoughtful restraint, and that’s something I try to carry through into Bindle, in our product curation, presentation, and the overall experience of receiving a gift.

In life, a big source of inspiration has been the process of reclaiming and restoring our old mid-century home. We’ve been approaching it with sensitivity to the original design, while finding ways to bring in modern elements that feel honest and lasting, not trend-driven.
It reminded me how satisfying it is to preserve what has meaning, and to build slowly and intentionally. That same mindset flows into Bindle: a quiet appreciation for things that are well made, well loved, and thoughtfully composed.
