Come and discover New Zealand’s best wines at Somm, Auckland’s first waterfront urban cellar door and wine bar. Located at Princes Wharf, Somm not only emulates the elegance of the brand through the curation of their wine and menu, but also through their interiors by accentuating the place’s heritage features all the while adding in the details that make Somm Somm.
As to how the magic happened, we chatted with Paul Phanoulas, Director of New Territory, a creative studio based in Auckland. The brand was brought to life through the collaboration between New Territory and Somm, from its brand identity make-up online and offline to the packaging that represents the brand in and out of the place.
And in order to do that, what they were looking for in packaging—high quality, stylish, and above all, sustainable—they found in noissue. They partnered with noissue to create branded packaging that would help elevate their brand on and off the table without having to compromise their values. Tell us a bit about your brand, introduce it to the world!
Somm is a cellar door experience in Auckland city. Aiming to bring the vineyards into the heart of the CBD, we developed a brand that featured touch points you'd find across sophisticated vineyards and a contemporary urban experience.
Tell us about the design for your packaging and how you’re using them?
Our design is a hybrid of sophistication and utilitarian, as are all the other aspects to the brand. We have focused on reinforced tape as the main brand placement for the packaging within the business, using plain or recycled boxes to really push a simple and clean approach.
What made noissue a good fit for your packaging?
It allowed us to achieve a really good output that fits all the components required for the brand. We have established quite a heavy guideline so having a partner that can deliver without compromises and at an affordable price was a big win for our clients.
